German Noodles
with Sauerkraut and Sausage

My grandmother said this recipe goes back about 100 years. This is Delicious!

• 4 cups flour

• 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder

• water (about 2 cups)

1. Before you start your noodles, boil your German sausage, drain, cut into pieces. Drain half the juice from ajar of sauerkraut, then put a jar of sauerkraut into a pan; add the cut up sausages and steam for about 45 minutes.

2. Mix and knead into 3 long strips (or can make shorter strips, to look like a long rope).
   Cut rope into 1/2 inch pieces, put pieces between hands and roll into a shape of noodle. (Use plenty of flour) As noodles are rolled, put in a floured cookie sheet and cover with cloth.

3. In large roaster (with a cover) put 1 1/2 cubes butter and small onion (chopped) and saute. Add 3 cups of water. Bring to a boil. Add noodles (toss in a few at a time) (make sure water is boiling when noodles are added).

4. Put the cover on. Leave the cover on for 15 minutes. Boil between medium and high heat.
   NOTE: DO NOT TAKE THE COVER OFF DURING THE 15 MINUTES WHILE NOODLES ARE COOKING.

5. Serve the noodles in one bowl and the sauerkraut/meat in a separate bowl.
