There's no need to buy a honey-baked ham at the store! This stunning ham has incredible flavor, yet it's so simple to prepare. The leftovers make the bet sandwiches.

Makes 20 to 25 servings

  • 1 (10-ounce) fully cooked, bone-in ham

  • 2 cups apple cider

  • 1 1/2 cups finely chopped pecans

  • 1 cup light brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  1. Preheat the oven to 325F.

  2. Insert a meat thermometer into the center of the ham without touching the bone. Place the ham in a baking dish, and pour the cider over. Roast in the oven, basting with cider every 30 minutes, for a total cooking time of 12 to 15 minutes per pound, or until the thermometer registers 140F.

  3. Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine the pecans, brown sugar, and mustard. Remove the ham from the oven about 40 minutes before it's done cooking, and firmly pat the sugar-pecan mixture all over the ham. Return to the oven, and continue roasting until the crust is brown and the ham is done. Slice the ham, and serve with sauce - some of the topping falls into the cider in the pan, making a sauce that is the perfect accompaniment to the ham.
