Recipe from: The Everything Slow Cooker Cookbook
by Margaret Kaeter
Cookbook Heaven at Recipelink.com

Servings: 6
Cooking time: 8-10 hours
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Attention: Minimal
Pot Size: 6 quarts

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon pepper

  • 1 teaspoon oregano

  • 1 teaspoon onion salt

  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt

  • 1 teaspoon basil

  • 1 cup Italian salad dressing

  • 2 cups water

  • 5 pound beef pot roast

  1. Mix the spices with the salad dressing and water in the slow cooker. Place the beef roast in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low setting for 8 to 10 hours.

  2. Thirty minutes before serving, remove the beef and shred it using 2 forks and pulling the meat apart. Return the meat to the broth and stir well. Cook covered on low setting for the remaining 30 minutes.

  3. Cut loaves of French bread into 6-inch-long pieces, then cut each piece down the middle and ladle the meat inside. Add a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of the meat.

Using Fresh Herbs: Add fresh herbs the last 60 minutes of cooking to ensure they retain their flavor. Dried herbs can be added at the beginning of the process.
