This is one of the simplest and best dessert condiments you can have on hand. It goes great over ice cream, as a complement to creme brulee, or as an accompaniment to cake. You can make it with either fresh or frozen berries and store it in your refrigerator year-round. And the juice becomes my Brandy Berry Sauce. It’s always great to have something that is easy and delicious. This is one of those things.

Makes 5 cups

4 pints berries, such as raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, or a combination
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups brandy

To make, simply put the berries in a bowl, Pour over the sugar and the brandy. Stir it all up gently and store it in a big glass jar or bowl. The juices of the berries wilt blend with the sugar and brandy to form a very delicious and versatile dessert condiment.
Cover tightly and store in the refrigerator.
