Samantha - I saw your request some time ago, but my BO books were at a friends. Just got them back a week or so ago.
I checked Bake Off book # 36 (1994); # 37 (1996; and # 38 (1998) and cannot find a recipe for Anisette Twists.
I wasn't sure if this was something with a ref'd product or flour -- or if it was like a sweet roll or more like a dessert. So I looked all through those books (except for the main dishes!)
If your mother-in-law has not found the recipe and can tell you a bit more about it, I can look through some of my other BO books - but a little better description would help.
