My son-in-law's mom passed away a few weeks ago. It was a tradition that she always brought her special gingerbread with hard sauce for all holiday meals.

As many times as I asked her for the recipe, she always managed to have a reason not to give it out - the last time we were together and she had brought it - I said - you're not going to give me that recipe, are you? - She just grinned and said, "Nope!" No one in her family has the recipe, either.

So, now the rest of the family has asked me to bring gingerbread with hard sauce, so as not to break the tradition!

Her gingerbread WAS one of the best I've ever tasted - it was NOT a fluffy, light cake, but instead was very dense, and VERY moist. Certainly not a box mix.

Can anyone help me finding a moist gingerbread recipe?
