MIRRO SUGAR COOKIES
Source: Mirro Cookbook
Makes 6 dozen

1 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla
3 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

In a mixing bowl, cream the shortening and sugar well. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually blend into the shortening mixture.

Chill the dough for at least 3 hours or overnight (if putting the dough through the cookie press do not chill first).

Heat the oven to 375 degrees.

Roll the dough out on a lightly floured pastry cloth, using a stockinette-covered rolling pin, to 1/8- to 1/4-inch thickness. Place the cookies on ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
