I agree with Tony, i worked in a Pie and Mash and used to make the liquor, no arrowroot, no potato water, no peas, and definitely no butter, this meal was made with very basic ingredients and not with some of the fancy ingredients that are so-called authentic recipes. The mash was just potatoes and maybe some salt...no milk or cream...the only thing I never got to know was the ingredients for the pastry...that seemed to be a secret and the filling was definitely just mince and gravy (thin gravy).
