MEAT SAUCE FOR PASTA
2 medium onions, chopped 1 clove garlic, minced 3 tablespoons peanut oil or vegetable oil 1 pound chopped chuck steak 1 cup tomato puree 2 cups stewed (or canned) tomatoes 1 teaspoon honey 1/2 cup dry red wine 1 teaspoon salt Freshly ground pepper (to taste) 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus additional for serving) 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley FOR SERVING: 1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced and sauteed in butter hot cooked spaghetti or noodles
Saute onions and garlic in oil until lightly browned.
Add meat and cook, stirring constantly with a fork, until it loses its red color. Place in the crock pot. Add tomato puree, tomatoes, honey, wine, salt, pepper and the Parmesan to crock pot.
Cover pot and cook on #2 (low) setting 9-10 hours.
When ready to serve, saute the mushrooms and add to the sauce. Serve over spaghetti or noodles, with a bowl of grated Parmesan for guests to add themselves.
