2 medium onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
3 tablespoons peanut oil or vegetable oil
1 pound chopped chuck steak
1 cup tomato puree
2 cups stewed (or canned) tomatoes
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 cup dry red wine
1 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground pepper (to taste)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus additional for serving)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
FOR SERVING:
1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced and sauteed in butter
hot cooked spaghetti or noodles

Saute onions and garlic in oil until lightly browned.

Add meat and cook, stirring constantly with a fork, until it loses its red color. Place in the crock pot. Add tomato puree, tomatoes, honey, wine, salt, pepper and the Parmesan to crock pot.

Cover pot and cook on #2 (low) setting 9-10 hours.

When ready to serve, saute the mushrooms and add to the sauce. Serve over spaghetti or noodles, with a bowl of grated Parmesan for guests to add themselves.
