I was married in November 1997 and we did everything ourselves...I had 2 great friends help with the food...it turned out yummy. This is some of what we had...

Meat & cheese trays with rolls and mustards - this was the "main dish", so we went heavy on good meats and interesting cheese.

A couple of salads - pasta and potato.

Tortelini skewers - take a cheese tortelini & put in on a little skewers with a green olive, a chunk of cheese, and/or a grape tomato. Marinate these in italian dressing overnight, then drain. Everyone loves these!

Potstickers - we bought these at Costco and cooked them ahead then placed in chafing dishes. Yummy.

Mini quiches - same as potstickers.

Mints that my MIL made.

Nuts.

I know there was more, but that's all I can think of right now. I'll post more if I think of it! We did everything for $200 by buying it at Costco, Grocery Outlet and Winco and making it ourselves. There were 75 people at the wedding and we had food left over. We borrowed all the serving dishes and chafing dishes we could, and bought inexpensive plastic serving trays that looked like silver for everything else. Got those at Costco too!

I had a friend get married several years ago and both sides were very "ethnic," Italian on one side and Hungarian on the other....all the grandmothers, aunts, moms, cousins, each made their own "special best dish" then it was all served in chafing dishes by students from the local ROP high school program! She served 450 people for under $400! And the food was awesome - there were fancy goulashes and roasts, interesting salads and incredible pasta dishes. Each of the women just made a big batch like she would for a holiday or something, so they weren't really out too much.

Warm wishes for a wonderful wedding!

Annie
