Hello Alana

The most fun wedding cake I have made had different flavors of cake for each of the tiers. My friend, the bride, who thought of this idea was creative and fun loving.

The outside of the cake was white boiled icing with almond and vanilla flavoring.

The guests were very surprised, and pleased, to see the different cake flavors when the cake was being cut. These different flavors added another level of fun to the wedding reception.

The base was chocolate with raspberry filling. The next layer up was a moist carrot cake with a buttercream filling. I think the third layer was white cake but it might have been lemon.

The top layer was the small cake that traditionally the bride and groom take home. I do not remember the flavor we used on that layer.

This cake was decorated in tiers with pedestal separators. After the photos were taken and it was time to serve the cake, we dismantled the stacked layers and placed them on the table. We were then able to carve all falvors at the same time. We cut fairly small pieces because mosts of the guests wanted a piece of each flavor.

You could use this idea with any combination of cake recipes.

Hope this gives you some new ideas, Alana.
