Hi!
Congratulations on the wonderful news! You can make this a beautiful occasion even with a tight budget. The secret is to making that dollar stretch....
Since it will be outdoors, you can set up a long table with a white tablecloth, get some of those pint size Mason canning jars, fill with water and daisies and greens for a "Country Living" effect. Tie a little raffia around the neck of the bottle. It's Labor Day Weekend, so it will be fun...think country, think outdoors, think breezy and fun!
The weather is hot so you want to keep things cool. I would serve:
Punch have a large metal bin filled with ice and beverages I'm thinking like a large garden galvanized metal bin...some galvanized metal watering cans filled with flowers... Do a search here for RECIPES THAT MAKE YOU GO WOW! and click on
Bacon Wrapped Dates...those you can put on a serving platter with doilies... they are fantastic and always a winner at my home.
Do a Spinach Dip with assorted crackers, people dive into this...
One huge Ham Glazed with rolls or biscuits to make little sandwiches with...
A yummy huge bowl of Potato Salad
a huge bowl of a pasta salad
some cheese and crackers platters
get a beautiful sheet wedding cake from the grocer's or local bakery
this is just 1 idea centered around Labor Day...I am sure others will be posting to help you out.
