The King cake is traditionally served on Epiphany or the Twelfth night of Christmas which is also here in Cajun country the beginning of the Mardi Gras season. The person who ges the baby or bean hidden in the cake is King or Queen for the day. Around here it means you have to supply the next king cake or next party.

***Did I tell you to hide a big dried bean or a tiny plastic doll in the cake? Well, do. It's half the fun.

You could go all out and have a crown, robe, septre.
