Recipe(tried): Ragu Pasta Sauce recipe for Sharon

Main Dishes - Pasta, Sauces
SHARON: Here is the recipe for exactly what you asked for. I am including my suggestions as well with options.

RAGU TOMATO SAUCE

1 (29 oz) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup canned peeled diced tomatoes
5 teaspoons granulated sugar
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 Tablespoon each of grated parmesan and romano cheese.
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 bay leaf

In a saucepan combine all ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes.*

Makes 3 cups of sauce

OPTIONAL:
- Add just short of a 1/4 cup finely chopped onion.
- Consider omitting the garlic salt and adding 3 medium garlic cloves chopped fine.
- Increase bay leaves to 3.
- Decrease sugar to 1 restaurant packet of sugar the ones that are used for 1 cup of coffee.
- Consider adding 1/2 Tablespoon of table salt

*MY SUGGESTIONS:
- At the end of cooking time is the time to add the salt, pepper, cheese & dried herbs during the last 10 minutes.
- I do not believe the cooking time to be 30 minutes. Simmer on a very, very low flame otherwise you will scorch your pot. Simmer uncovered or partially uncovered till you reach the desired thickness that you want, that may take up to 2 hours. When stirring, do not use a aluminum spoon, use a wooden spoon.

If you want the recipe for the meat addition send a post to me. Good luck & let us know of your success, Chef Dunask.
