I made these bars for a Red Cross tea and was bombarded by requests
for the recipe. I use butter for this recipe, it tastes soo much
richer.

Strawberry Marzipan Bars Yield 3 dozen bars

Crumb Mixture:
1 1/4 cup flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
Beat all ingredients with mixer at low speed until crumbly. Press into
9"x12" greased and floured pan. Bake @350,for 15 to 20 minutes.

Meanwhile: In same bowl beat at low speed until mixed,
Filling:
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
Spread 3/4 cup of strawberry preserves to within 1/2" of hot crust.
Sprinkle filling over the top, and return to oven. Bake 20-25 minutes
or until light brown. Allow to cool completely.

Glaze:
