Don't ask me any questions tho', I just copied them from a formula book I have.
Joe
BAY RUM ONE
Step 1. Oil of bay 1 drachm
Alcohol 18 ounces
Water 18 ounces
Mix and filter through magnesia
Step 2. Bay leaf otto 1/2 ounce
Magnesium carbonate 1/2 ounce
Jamaica rum 2 pints
Alcohol 3 pints
Water 3 pints
Triturate the otto with magnesium carbonate, gradually adding the other ingredients, previosly mixed, and filter.
If the rum employed contains sufficient sugar or mucilaginous matterto cause any stickiness to be felt on the skin, rectification will be necessary.
BAY RUM TWO
Or more procgiy bay sprit, may be made from the oil with weak alcohol as follows:
I. Oil of bay leaves 3 drachms
Oil of orange peel 1/2 drachm
Tincture of orange peel 2 ounces
Magnesium carbonate 1/2 ounce
Alcohol 4 pints
Water 4 pints
Triturate the oils with the magnesium carbonate, gradually adding the other ingredients previously mixed and filtered.
The tincture of orange peel is used chiefly as a coloring for the mixture.
II Bay oil 15 parts
Sweet orange oil 1 part
Pimento oil 1 part
Spirit of wine 1000 parts
Water 750 parts
Quillaia bark ad libitum
III Bay oil 12.5 parts
Sweet orange oil 0.5 parts
Pimento oil 0.5 parts
Spirit of wine 200 parts
Water 2800 parts
Jamaica rum essence 75 parts
Soap powder 20 parts
Quillaia extract 5 parts
Borax 10 parts
The above are very old formulas taken from " Henley's 20th century formulas, processes and trade secrets"

Simple Bay Rum
1. Citric acid 1/8 tsp
(Juice of one lemon may be used instead.)
2. Orange oil 1 tsp
3. Denatured alcohol 1 pint
4. Glycerine 1 TBSP
5. Talc 1 TBSP
6. Water 1 pint
Dissolve 2 and 3, Add 1 and 4. Add 6 and continue mixing.
When mixed thoroughly, add 5.
