JOE FROGGER'S JUMBO MOLASSES COOKIES
1/2 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 1 cup water 1 cup molasses 2 1/2 cup sifted all-purpose flour 1 1/2 tsp. ground ginger 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
Cream the shortening and sugar; combine the mixture with 1 cup water and molasses.
Sift together the dry ingredients and add alternately to the creamed mixture with the liquids. Blend well after each addition.
Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto a well-greased cookie sheet, making five cookies to a sheet (or dough can be chilled overnight and rolled to cut with cookie cutters).
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. |
