Susan, you might want to try this technique. It was my mothers, who was hard working but resourceful. Whatever cabbage roll recipe you decide on, try fixing it like this: Instead of making rolls, chop cabbage and divide in half. Place half the cabbage in the bottom of a large dutch oven or pot with lid. Make your meat mixture, form loosely into balls, and place them on the layer of cabbage. Cover meat mixture with remaining cabbage. Pour whatever sauce or soup you are using over the top. Simmer on stove top about two hours. This is quick, easy and great "bowl food".
