Hi Dee: Here's two of my stand-bys.... these's have always been the first to sell at our bakes sales: FOR SENIORS Layered Mint Chocolate Candy 10 squares semi-sweet chocolate 1 can sweet condensed milk, divided 2 tsp. vanilla 1 package of white chocolate squares 1 T. peppermint extract 6 drops of green food coloring In a heavy saucepan, over low heata, melt semisweet chocolate with 1 cup of the sweetened milk. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla. Spread half the mixture into wax paper lined 9'x11' square pan. Chill 10 min. or until firm. Hold remaining chocolate mixture at room temperature. In heavy saucepan over low heat melt white chocolate with remaining sweetened milk. Remove from heat and stir in peppermint extract and food coloring. Spread on chilled chocolate layer. Chill 10 minutes longer or until firm. Spread reserved melted chocolate mixture on mint layer. Chill 2 hours or until firm. Turn onto a cutting board. Peel off paper and cut into squares. Makes 1 3/4 lbs. FOR CHILDREN, - Rice Krispie Squares 4 T butter 4 C marshamallows or 10 oz. 5 C Rice Krispie cereal
Melt butter in saucepan over low heat. Add the mallows and stir till melted. Cook 3 minutes stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add the Krispies and stir till are are coated. Using buttered spatula, press evenly into buttered 13x9x2 pan. Cool, cut into 2x2 squares, wrap separately for sale.
