FRESNO PUDDING
Mix these together and sift into a bowl: 1 cup flour 2/3 cup sugar 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt
Add: 1 cup seedless raisins 1/2 cup milk
Spread this batter in a greased baking dish.
Heat together: 2 cups water 1 cup brown sugar 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
When sugar is dissolved, pour syrup over the batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or longer if necessary.
The liquid will seem mighty thin and you may think you are doing nothing more than drowning the batter. As it bakes, the batter rises through the syrup and mixes with it to make a delicious sauce.
P.S. This recipe is over 50 years old.
