UMYF (United Methodist Youth Fellowship) Spaghetti Source: First United Methodist Church Cookbook, Atlanta TX Serves: 24 6 Medium Onions, Chopped 8 cloves garlic, minced 1/4 cup Olive Oil 4 cans (1 pound each) Tomatoes 4 cans (15 ounces each) Tomato Sauce 3 tablespoonss parsley flakes 2 tablespoons sugar 1 1/2 tablespoon salt 4 teaspoons oregano 4 teaspoons basil 4 pounds ground beef 2 pounds spaghetti grated parmesan cheese In large dutch oven cook onion and garlic in oil until onion is tender. Stir in remaining ingredients except beef, spaghetti and cheese. Heat to boiling, stiring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered 2 1/2 hours or more, stirring often. (longer cooking improves flavor) In large skillet cook beef until brown. Drain off fat and add to sauce mixture. Simmer uncovered 20-30 minutes. Serve over cooked spaghetti. Pass Parmesan cheese.
