This is an old, old recipe, but still one of my favorites.
HONEY-GLAZED BAKED HAM
Whole or half ham Cloves Prepared mustard 3/4 cup brown sugar Honey
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Place ham, fat side up, on rack in shallow baking pan.
Bake in slow oven (325 degrees) uncovered with no water added according to weight of ham. Remove from oven 30 minutes before it is baked.*
Pour off drippings. Remove all skin. with a sharp knife score fat into diamond shapes. Cut about 1/4 inch deep. Stick a clove in the middle of each diamond.
TO GLAZE HAM: Spread the whoe surface with prepared mustard. Cover generously with brown sugar. Drizzle on honey.
Return to a moderate oven (375 degrees), and bake the remaining half hour.
Serve hot.
*If you want the glaze to get crunchy, put it on earlier in the cooking process, maybe an hour before the ham is done.
