Indian Fry Bread
3 cups sifted flour 1 Tbsp. Baking poweder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 cup warm water
Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add warm water a little at a time and knead by hand until a soft but not sticky dough forms. Cover bowl and let stand 15 minutes. Pull off egg size balls of dough and roll into rounds 1/4 inch thick. Pierce several times with fork. Fry in a heavy skillet with deep fat until bubbles form, turn and fry other side. My recipe doesn't give a temp. but I think 360F or so would be about right. B. |
