Here's a recipe that my family likes.

Apple-Cinnamon French Toast

5 tbsp. butter
2 2 1/2 large apples
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. dark corn syrup (I use the light)
1 tsp. cinnamon

8 slices Texas Toast (cut off crusts)
3 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Night before: melt butter, add apples, cook till apples are tender. Add brown sugar, corn syrup, & cinnamon. Cook till brown sugar dissolves. Pour apple mixture in 9x13-inch pan. Spread evenly. Arrange bread in one layer on top of apple mixture.

Beat with fork: eggs, milk & vanilla until well mixed. Pour over bread slices. Cover with plastic wrap (I use metal cake pan lid) and refrigerate overnight.

Next morning: Preheat oven to 375. Bake 45-60 mins. or until mixture is firm and bread is golden brown. Invert onto serving tray & serve immediately.

We use no toppings when eating this French toast. M-M-m Good-wish I had some apples on hand now!!
