Here are a couple recipes, but I have a feeling they're not what you're looking for - I think I've seen the recipe you're referring to and hopefully I or someone else can find it for you. In the meantime, these look very tasty!

Title: Cranberry Caramel Date Bars

Yield: 24 Bars

1 c Cranberries
1/2 c Sugar
- plus 2 tbs sugar
2 1/3 c Flour
2 c Oatmeal (uncooked)
1/2 c Light brown sugar (packed)
1/2 ts Baking soda
1 c Margarine or butter (melted)
1 1/2 c Dates, chopped
3/4 c Walnuts, toasted & chopped
1 c Caramel ice cream topping

Heat oven to 350^. In bowl combine cranberries and 2 tb sugar. Set aside. In another bowl combine 2 c flour, oats, remaining 1/2 c sugar, brown sugar & soda. Add melted margarine. Mix well. Reserve one cup crumb mixture. Press remainder firmly on bottom of 9 X 13" baking pan. Bake 15 minutes. Sprinkle dates, walnuts, and cranberry mixture over crust. Mix caramel topping and remaining 1/3 c flour. Spoon over fruit and walnuts. Top with reserved crumb mixture. Bake 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool. Cut into bars. Makes 24 bars.

12 oz Pkg. cranberries
8 oz Pkg. chopped pitted dates
1 ts Vanilla
2 c All-purpose flour
2 c Rolled oats
1 1/2 c Packed brown sugar
1/2 ts Baking soda
1 c Butter or margarine; melted
2 c Sifted confectioner's sugar
1/2 ts Vanilla
2 tb Orange juice; (up to 3)

For filling: in a medium saucepan combine cranberries and dates. Cook, covered over Low heat for 10-15 minutes or until cranberries pop, stirring frequently. Stir in vanilla. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda and 1/4 tsp. salt. Stir in butter until well blended. Pat half of the oat mixture on the bottom of a 9x13" pan. Bake at 350 F. for 8 minutes. Carefully spread filling over baked oat mixture. Sprinkle remaining oat mixture atop. Pat gently. Bake for 20-22 minutes or until golden. Cool on a wire rack. For glaze in a medium bowl stir together confectioner's sugar, vanilla and enough orange juice to make drizzling consistency. Drizzle over cooled mixture in pan. Cut into 32 bars
