Terri, I must tell you I admire you for making homemade bagels. I keep sourdough starter and make homemade bread every week for my family. I have often thought of getting a bread machine to make it a little easier, although I add yeast to my batter when making bread and the children as well as my husband like it so much I feel that it is worth the extra trouble. I have made bagels from sourdough starter recipes and yeast recipes, but with the broiling, boiling and baking steps, along with all the other routine baking projects I do each week; it seems easier to just buy them. (Betsy' please don't kick me out of TKL for advising this), But ... I do understand the fulfillment of Making 'great' things for your family, but my husband and children love bagels so much that I can't keep enough of them around to keep up with supply and demand when making them from scratch. I have 'plenty' of recipes to share with you, if you would like. Please "set" me straight if there is an easier way, besides the bread machine to make these. Thank you.
