I'm looking for a VERY soft peanut butter cookie recipe. My mother used to make a peanut butter cookie called "Tom Thumb" cookies. The cookies were rolled in a ball, a thumb print was put in them and they baked with an indentation in them. When they were served, jelly was put in the indentation--kind of like a peanut butter and jelly cookie. They were VERY good. The cookies were not criss-crossed with a fork like many peanut butter cookies and they were tender, not crispy. The recipe came from the Parade Magazine (the one that comes in the Sunday newspapers) and appeared about 35 - 40 years ago. I sure hope that someone can help me--my family has lost the recipe and I haven't found one like it in my cookbooks. Thank you!!!!!
