This is definitely not my invention, but it is impressive!

Comstock Black Forest Brownie Torte
1 pkg Brownie mix plus ingredients to make cake like brownies
1 21 oz can Comstock cherry pie filling,divided
2 1/2 cups thawed frozen whipped topping,divided
1/4 cup sliced almonds

Prepare brownie mix according to directions for cake like brownies. Grease and flour 2 9 inch round cake pans. Divide brownie batter between two pans.
Bake at 350^F for 18 to 20 minutes. Do not overbake. Cool in pans 10 minutes, then remove to wire rack to cool.

Place one brownie cake on platter or cake dish. Top with 1 and 1/2 cups whipped topping, spreading to within 1/2 inch of edge. Spread 1 cup cherry pie filling evenly over whipped topping. Put second cake layer on top of whipped
topping. Spread remaining pie filling to within 1/2 inch of edge. Dollop remaining whipped topping around edge of top layer of torte. Sprinkle almonds over top. Cut into wedges with large serrated knife. Makes 12 servings.
