Hi BV..
I was some place else on the web, and remebered your post...and I had an idea that might be simple for you since you just moved....How about...
A Watermelon Basket...do you know how to carve one...??? If not, cut the watermelon a little less than half way thru lengthwise and stop then cut the other side lengthwise a little less than half way thru and stop again..then cut down to where you stopped lengthwise on both sides (which is the "handle" to your basket and remove the two ends..then scoop out all the watermelon with a melon baller, when all watermelon is removed..tidy up the basket and cut V's in the basket with a sharp knife...get a couple of cantaloupes, different colored grapes, (the red and green are my favorites), and maybe some cherries and some fresh pineapple chunks.
place all this fruit back in your "watermelon" basket in a and cover well with saran wrap...this is a welcome treat during these hot days....good luck
You may want to bring a box of colored toothpicks to place on the table...for stabbers!!
P.S. you could also do fruit shishkebobs!
