Here's a recipe that I think it what you describe. I
usually make it in a 9x13 Tupperware container. It
is a pretty salad with the different rainbow
colors....thus the name:

Rainbow Jello Salad

I usually put 1 pkg of each flavor of Jello in a
different bowl and line them up on the cupboard in
the following order and add the water and evap.
milk as listed:

Black Cherry - add 1-1/2 c. boiling water

Cherry - add 1 c. boiling water and 1/2 c.
evaporated milk

Lime - add 1-1/2 c. boiling water

Lemon - add 1 c. boiling water and 1/2 c.
evaporated milk

Orange - add 1-1/2 c. boiling water

Orange/Pineapple - add 1 c. boiling water and 1/2
c. evaporated milk

Wild Strawberry - add 1-1/2 c. boiling water

Begin with the Black Cherry Jello mixture as the first
layer in the container. Place in the refrigerator and it
will usually set up in about 20 min. Test carefully
and when the surface is just congealed, very
carefully spoon the 2nd layer on, etc. Be sure each
mixture is room temperature before you add to the
congealed mixture or you do not have an even
layered look.

Hope this is clear.
