hi pajalind, just read some of the replies, and although you don't want a salad, i believe this is a winner and so different. i made in first in 1979 for my niece's wedding shower... here goes:
l large bag FROZEN peas
l small jar chopped pimientos
1/2 lb. cheddar cheese cut into 1/2" cubes
1/2 c. chopped onion (a mild variety) such as vidalia or white
1/2 c. thinly sliced celery
salt, pepper, and mayonnaise to taste.
(i use only hellman's)
blanche peas for 2 min (make sure water is boiling already)
let them cool, and mix all ingredients, I got rave reviews on this salad, it's a good one for Christmas too.... good luck
also...I'm sure there will be plenty of watergate salads there, but just in case you don't have this recipe its l large can crushed pineapple, l small box instant pistaccio pudding and l 9 oz. container of cool whip, and miniature marshmallows to suit yourself..mix all together (don't drain pineapple) and chill...my grandbabies love this salad...
