Had another brainstorm. This is so easy to make and very good! BOILED CUSTARD: 1/2 gallon milk, 6 whole eggs, 1 3/4 cup sugar, Vanilla to taste. Mix all ingredients well. Cook in double boiler until it thickens. I think your husband might enjoy this. My grandmother made it and since so has mom and I. It is very thick and could almost be eaten with a spoon. If he would care for it, a scoop of vanilla ice cream in it is good. (I pour back into milk 'jug' after cools, easy way to store.)
