SLOVAK CHEESE COFFEE CAKE (Syr Kava Kolac) 1 pkg. dry yeast 1/4 c. milk, scalded and cooled to lukewarm 1 Tbsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 4 egg yolks, beaten 1 c. margarine 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted egg whites ground nuts cinnamon-sugar confectioners sugar Cheese Filling: 2 (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened 1 c. sugar 1 egg yolk 1 tsp. vanilla To make filling: Combine all ingredients and beat with mixer until light and fluffy. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in lukewarm milk. Mix in sugar, salt and egg yolks. Cut in margarine. Add flour all at once; mix well. Divide dough into 2 parts. Between sheets of waxed paper; roll out one part to fit an ungreased 9 x 13-inch pan. Spread with filling. Roll out remaining dough and cover filling. Brush with egg whites. Sprinkle with ground nuts, then with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar to taste. Cover and let rise 2 1/2 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool, then sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
