you can use a basic sugar syrup of water and sugar with some lemon juice added and if you want a liquer like triple sec ,grand marnier or curaco use 2 to 1 ratio of sugar to water like 2 cups sugar and i cup water rind of one lemon over meduim heat bring to boil.wash down the sides of the pan with a pastry brush dipped in cold water.reduce heat to low simmer 10 min untilthickened remove from heat take out trhe lemon rind and add the liquer then pour over BAKALAVA
