This is how iced tea has been made in my family for many years.

In a small stainless steel sauce pan bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat and add 4 quart size tea bags. Cover with a lid let steep for 20 minutes. In a pitcher add anywhere from 1/2 cup to 1 cup of sugar. Depends on hoe sweet you want it. Pour hot tea on sugar stir until sugar dissolves. Add cold tap water to the tea bags in the pan pour into pitcher that has the sugar in it. Keep vdoing this until you have filled up the gallon pitcher.

Hope this helps.
