My sister lives in Maryland, and once while visiting her, we went to a friend's house for dinner. She served what she called brisket of beef. It was done somewhat like a long-cooked pot roast, but with a different zing to it. I think I remember her saying it had some kind of sauerbraten mix/liquid as it's base. I can't remember what she served with it, don't remember if onions/carrots, etc. were cooked in with it. Just remember it being very tender and flavorful. This is something that is indigenous to that region around the Baltimore area. Would anyone from that area know what I was referring to and give me a recipe that is typical of oven roasted brisket of beef? And any accompanying side dishes that are typically used with this recipe? If this sauerbraten liquid is something you have to purchase there, is there a copycat recipe for that also. Thanks so much in advance for your help!
