I don't know if this is the same thing but I found this recipe in my grandmom's cookbook. It was passed on to my mom and then to me. It's from the New American Cookbook published in l947( the year I was born...yikes!!)

This says it's for apple fritters but you do the same thing for peaches. It's not chopped apples, maybe it will work.

1 cup of flour
1 and 1/2 tsps. baking powder
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp.salt
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
5 or 6 apples/peaches

Mix and sift flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add milk and well-beaten egg. Mix well. For apples . . . pare, core and quarter. For peaches . . . cut peaches in half and then in quarters (removing stone). Dip each piece of apple/peach in the batter and fry in deep hot fat (365°) until brown. Drain on unglazed paper(presuming paper towel) and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

I am definitely going to try this recipe. It sounds delicious.
