I made these for Thanksgiving for the first time and they were a hit. I had a recipe that called for eggs whites but I didn't like the idea of using them even though my recipe baked them. Next time I make this one though I am going to double the cinnamon and allspice.

Sugared Nuts

3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 - 2 1/2 cups pecans, almonds, or walnut halves

In med. pan (nonstick is better if you have one) combine sugar, water, and spices, bring to a full rolling boil. Boil gently for 4 min, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. Add nuts and stir just till nuts are well coated. Turn mixture out onto foil lined cookie sheet, using forks quickly separate the nuts into single or bite size clusters. Put in 250* oven for 20 minutes, separating after about 10 minutes. Turn oven off and leave nuts in oven until oven cools. Cool before serving.

Makes about 3/4 pound.
