ISO: Pumpkin Pie from scratch?

Has anyone out there ever made pumpkin pie right from scratch. I have two nice pumpkins and I wanted to make pie with them instead of using canned. I would love any help there may be out there. I assume you would cook the pumpkin like squash but I am wondering if anyone may have done this successfully and have a great recipe.
