Chili Gravy

1 tablespoon lard
1 1/2 tablespoons masa harina
1 tablespoon yellow cornmeal
1 clove garlic -- crushed
1/8 teaspoon ground cumin
1/8 teaspoon ground oregano
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 cups beef broth
Salt -- to taste

Heat lard and saute first 5 ingredients until golden. Add chili powder and broth and stir until smooth. Simmer 10 minutes. Cover and simmer 10 to 15 minutes longer.
