This is a great old Appalachian Mountain Recipe!!!

3/4 cup of sugar
2 cups dried apples (or peaches,apricots)
1 1/2 cups of water
1 tbspn of butter

Soak dried fruit in water for several hours,or overnight, and cook slowly until
tender. Dredge prepared lower crust with flour, put in layer of fruit, sprinkle
generousely with sugar; alternate fruit and sugar until crust is full;
distribute butter over top layer; adjust top crust and join around the rim,
moisten edges; dredge the top crust with flour and cook in moderate oven ( I
use my woodcookstove so am not posotive on electric oven temp; probably 350)
until well browned.
