Bisquick Apple Coffee Cake From: Betty Crocker's Creative Recipes with Bisquick - 1980
Streusel Topping: 1/4 cup firm margarine or butter 2/3 cups Bisquick baking mix 2/3 cup packed brown sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Coffee Cake: 2 cups Bisquick baking mix 3 tablespoons sugar 1 egg 2/3 cup milk or cold water 2 cups thinly sliced pared apples (about 2 medium) 2 tablespoons chopped nuts
Glaze: 1/2 cup powdered sugar 2 to 3 teaspoons milk
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Grease square pan (9x9x2-inches).
Prepare Streusel Topping: Cut margarine or butter into baking mix, brown sugar, cinnamon and ground nutmeg until crumbly.
Prepare Coffee Cake: Mix baking mix, sugar, egg and milk; beat vigorously 30 seconds. Spread half of the batter in pan. Arrange apple slices on batter; sprinkle with half of the topping. Spread remaining batter over apple slices; sprinkle with remaining topping. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, about 25 minutes; cool. Drizzle with Glaze.
Prepare Glaze: Mix powdered sugar and 2 to 3 teaspoons milk until smooth and of desired consistency.
