Amish Ice Cream Cake 1/2 c Crisco 1 1/2 c powdered sugar 1/2 c milk 1/2 c cornstarch 1 1/2 c flour 2 tsp baking powder 2 tsp vanilla 6 egg whites Sift flour once and then measure. Add baking powder and cornstarch to sifted flour, then sift together 3 times. Cream shortening. Add the sugar gradually and cream well. Add flour mixture alternately with the milk. Add the vanilla and fold in the egg whites. Bake 20 minutes. Makes 2 round layers. The recipe does not specify an oven temperature or pan size. I am guessing 350* and either an 8 or 9 inch pan, adjusting the baking time if necessary. |
