This recipe is great and very easy to do. Don't remember where the recipe came from but I think it was "Taste of Home" (wonderful magazine). It has the best "down home flavor" with a smooth gravey. The biggest problem is smelling the wonderful aroma all the while it is cooking.
Easy Oven Beef Stew
3/4 pound boneless beef round steak cubed (I used regular stew beef) 1 Tablespoon cooking oil 4 medium potatoes cut into 1-inch cubes 5 medium carrots cut in 1 1/2 inch chunks 1 celery rib cut into 1-inch chunks 1 large onion cut into 1-inch chunks 1 can (14-1/2 ounces) tomatoes 1 can water (use tomato can) 3 tablespoons quick cooking tapioca 1 teaspoon browning sauce 1/2 to 1/4 teaspoon pepper
In a dutch oven, brown beef in oil. Add rest of the ingredients; cover and bake at 300 F. for 4 to 5 hours, stirring twice.
