Sammy, I am wondering if you are thinking
of a recipe sometimes called Punch Bowl
Dessert or Cake.

In a Punch Bowl Dessert, various wonderful
dessert type items are collected. These
might include pudding, mousse, canned
pie filling, whipped cream, unfrosted cake
of any type, etc.

Spoonfulls of each item are neatly and
decoratively placed into a decorative
clear glass bowl (such as a punch bowl).
The cake is included by breaking it into
chucks in similar size to the other
ingredients you are adding. Pay
attention to the sides of the bowl as
you are assembling this cake. You want
to keep them neat with all of your colors
showing.

Some people make this dessert by including
broken bits of candy bars in the bowl and/or
sprinkled over the top when everything
else has been put inside the bowl.

This is a great looking dessert, and you can
be as creative as you wish. For special
holidays you can use ingredients for that
particular holiday... for example, for the
Fourth of July you can use cherry pie filling
and blueberry pie filling with white cake,
vanilla pudding, etc.

Angelfood cake works well in this dessert.

This is served with a long-handle spoon and
guests just spoon out their portions from the
bowl.

This dessert has been a big hit every time
I have served it. And, I don't think I have
ever made it the same way twice.
