COOKIE SHEET APPLE PIE
Serves 15 to 20. From "Taste of Home" magazine.
3 3/4 cup flour 1 1/2 tsp salt 3/4 cup shortening
3 eggs 1/3 cup milk
8 cups peeled baking apples, sliced or shredded 1 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup cornflakes, crushed
1 egg white, beaten
1. In mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture has coarse texture.
2. Add eggs and milk. Mix to form dough. Chill for 20 minutes.
3. Divide dough in half; roll one half to fit bottom and sides of a greased or sprayed 10 inch by 15 inch pan. (jelly roll size)
4. Arrange apples over crust. Combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cornflakes. Sprinkle over apples.
5. Roll remaining dough to fit top of pan and place over apples. Seal edges. Cut slits in top.
6. Brush with beaten egg white. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
