Guys, I found this recipe on the NG and decided to try it out for our dinner tonight as I had some fresh King prawns. The sauce is really delicious (I licked)... As I got this recipe at such a short time, I did some changes according to what I have in the kitchen.
Note: I only made 1/2 amount. I treated it like a "salad dressing" as my prawns are scattered among salad leaves and cherry tomatoes. I will serve it with garlic bread and mushroom soup. ======================================================== A recipe from Irene's grandmother's cookbook (1930's)
Crawfish or Shrimp Cocktail (spicy!)
1/2 cup Heinz chili sauce (I used only 2 T. ABC tropical Chili Sauce as it's the most spicy chili sauce I know!) 1/2 cup catsup 1/2 cup horseradish (omitted, as I didn't have it... I donit know it meant the "sauce" or freshly chopped horseradish?) 1 tbsp lea & Perrins Worcestershire 1/2 tsp salt 1 tbsp lemon or lime juice (lime juice was used) 1/2 cup parsley, chopped fine Louisiana hot sauce (to taste) (substituted with tabasco coz I don't have the other. In fact, never heard of it.) boiled crawfish or shrimp (King Prawns)
Combine all ingredients to make sauce. Pour over crawfish or shrimp, or dip the crawfish or shrimp in the sauce.
