Hi Tracey,

I think if you sandwich these bars together with some frosting you may have the recipe you're looking for. I haven't tried it myself but it looks like it will produce the coating you described.

Graham Cracker Cookies

cookie sheet with edge or jelly roll pan
1 package (inner package, not full box) graham crackers
1/2 to 1 cup chopped nuts
2 sticks (1 cup) butter (or 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup margarine)
1/2 cup sugar

Layer cookie pan with graham crackers (break them apart on seams). Place close together so that most of the glaze will stay on top of the crackers. Sprinkle on nuts. Heat butter and sugar on low until butter melts and sugar is dissolved then bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes. Pour mixture over crackers and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove crackers from sheet onto a sheet of foil and let cool. (The first few are difficult to get out of pan.)

Happy Baking,

Betsy
