Mary K, I looked in my circa 1979 Kenmore microwave cookbook and didn't find the recipe you mentioned, but found this one in another cookbook. Does it sound familiar to you? Good luck with you quest for the original. Flemish Stew
2 medium onions, chopped 2 clove garlic, finely chopped 1 tablespoon butter 2 pounds lean beef stew 1/2 cup flour 1 tablespoon seasoned salt 4 medium potatoes, diced 4 medium carrots, diced 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 15-oz can stewed tomatoes 1 12-oz can beer In a 4- to 5-quart microwavable casserole dish, microwave onions and garlic in butter on HIGH for 3 minutes or until onions are transparent. Coat stew beef chunks in flour. Combine remaining ingredients in casserole and mix well. Program to microwave on HIGH for 15 minutes, then on SIMMER for 20 minutes and on WARM for 20 minutes. Stir after high and simmer times.
