I got both of these recipes from the Taste of Home magazine and my family loves them!
Sausage Sandwich Squares (The recipe called for a homemade dough, but I use 1 to 2 lbs. frozen bread dough, thawed.) 1 lb. bulk Italian sausage 1 each red and green bell pepper, diced 1 large onion diced 4 c. mozzarella, shred 1 egg 1 TBLS water 2 TBLS each parmesan cheese and minced fresh parsley 1/2 tsp. oregano 1/8 tsp garlic powder Cook sausage until no longer pink. Set aside. In drippings, saute onion and peppers. Drain. Press half the dough over the bottom and 1/2" up sides of a greased 15"x10"x1" pan. Top with sausage, pepper/onions, cheese. Top with remaining dough, seal edges. Beat egg and water. Add remaining ingredients, brush over dough. Cut slits in top. Bake 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. 2 loaves (1 lb. each) Italian bread, 1"cubes 6 c. cooked ham, cubed 1-1/2 lb. Monterey Jack cheese, cubed 1 onion, chop 1/4 c. butter 16 eggs 7 c. milk 1/2c. mustard
Toss ham, bread and cheese together. Divide into 2 greased 13"x9"x2" pans. Saute onion in butter, add to eggs, milk and mustard. Mix well, pour over bread mixture. Cover. Refrigerate overnight. Remove 30 minutes before baking. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 55-65 minutes until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Serve immediately.
